Hi, I'm Dustin
I'm having a hard time adjusting to the college life. I have so much freedom, and I'm so busy. I'm attending this college to get my desired degree, I'm studying to become an electrical engineer. I noticed after my first week its best to stay on top of things, and not to give into procrastination. I enjoy this all, however at the same time i feel overwhelmed. Its hard to put into words what I feel, but I try. Im just a average student trying to get by. I'm sure there are many others out there feeling the same way, please comment and tell me about your self. After this week I can already tell I'm going to need some friends to get through this, or I may start to gray! >; )
Whew! Glad I'm not the only one who's having a little difficulty adjusting to all this running around and trying to stay on top of things and what not. So don't worry, you're not alone, haha. I'm also absolutely in love with your car. I saw it in the parking lot and thought it was a Monte Carlo and was like aahhhhhhhh but then I realized it wasn't and was like awhhh but it's still a pretty cool car. :)
ReplyDeleteSame here it just seems like there is so much being shoved at me right now that it’s hard to keep it all straight. Thin add in the fact that I have no idea what the ... my teachers are talking about. From my EET class to my first year class, everything is new. I guess I thought it would be a little different then what it is. I don’t think it helps that some of the teachers go so fast that I can hardly keep up. I just keep telling myself to ask questions and just bug them to death until I get it our teachers break down one. I also know that all I can do is my best to like you said to stay on top of things and give it my all. It really helps to see that I'm not the only one going thought this. It also helps for me to see all the students that are ahead of me making it because I know that they started in the same way I am. I talked to a guy that is like 50 years old and he is in his second year here. He told me that he was here at the learning center every day his first year. He said that the more he kept at it the easier it got and before he knew it he was helping other students out with some of the same trouble he had. He told me not to give up taking it one thing at a time and as long as I did my best it would all be ok.
ReplyDeleteThat’s a really interesting field to study, from what I hear. One of my friends actually graduated with the same exact degree, and, let’s just say, he is pretty darn happy with life. In terms of being a new college student, I can also highly relate to the freedom versus the busy lifestyle issue. When I first came here, I was like “holy crap I have assignments due today, this day, that day, and two papers that day,” and my head was just spiraling. I am not going to lie, after my second class; I went to my car and contemplated going back to my high school. I was just so stressed that I was going to fall behind and not prosper, so to speak. Also, another thing I can relate with you is always working when not in class. Out of my group of pals, I am one of two people that have a steady job. Although I am “making bank,” I am starting to lose a lot of them in the processes of trying to succeed in everything. It honestly kind of sucks. That being said, every time I look back on all the grades I have gotten, and the increases in my bank account, I cannot help but feel really proud in what I am doing with my life. Now that the semester is approximately half ways over, I am really really comfortable with the college life. It definitely beats high school that is for sure. I see that this post is pretty old, so I hope that you are also adjusted quite well, too!
